GM Radiators & Parts
What Happens If I Put More Water Than Coolant in My Car Radiator?
It is essential to maintain a correct coolant-to-water ratio of 50/50, as too much water can limit cooling efficiency, resulting in overheating and serious vehicle damage. The 50/50 ratio optimizes cooling, freeze protection, and corrosion resistance. It also reduces the freezing point of the radiator liquid, allowing it to freeze more easily in cold conditions. Excess water can also cause corrosion in metal components, resulting in leaks and damage.
